Mercury to dip over the weekend: HKO

The Hong Kong Observatory has reminded people to wrap up warm this weekend and early next week, saying a cold spell will send the mercury plunging to as low as 10 degrees Celsius in urban areas.

The forecaster said while the weather will remain rather warm over the next few days, a cold front is expected to reach southern China over the weekend.

“The associated intense winter monsoon will affect the region in the following few days. It will become cold appreciably,” the weatherman said.

“The minimum temperature will fall to 12 degrees or below.”

According to the observatory’s latest forecast, it will be coldest next Wednesday, with the temperature ranging from 10 to 15 degrees.
