‘Honest Gorilla’ to combat price-fixing

The Competition Commission is launching a roving tour of its “Combat Price Fixing Cartels” pop-up exhibit around the city from yesterday to July to raise public awareness and deepen understanding of such conduct across the community.

Price fixing is a form of serious anti-competitive conduct which can occur in any industry or sector, under the Competition Ordinance.

The pop-up exhibit displays useful information on various price fixing and addresses common misconceptions about the conduct to increase public understanding of illicit practices and their negative impact.

”Honest Gorilla”, the watchdog’s social media mascot, is touring major sports centers before heading to public libraries across Hong Kong in the summer and will also be featured in the pop-up exhibit.

The public is invited to participate in a social media contest for a chance to win prizes. They can first take a photo of the “Honest Gorilla”, on display at the sports centers, and upload it on their Facebook or Instagram page.
