Food, dry goods to return to Lunar New Year fairs

The government on Wednesday said they will allow the sale of food at next year’s Lunar New Year fairs, the first time since the Covid pandemic.

The government had only allowed the sale of flowers at such fairs in the past three years.

In a statement from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD), the government said it will also allow stalls to sell dry goods after a four-year absence.

Authorities added they will increase the number of stalls for next year’s fairs to 1,507 from last year’s 922.

“The Lunar New Year fairs are to be held at 15 locations and will be open for seven days from February 4 to 10,” the FEHD said.

The authorities said bidding for the stalls will open on November 13.
