Writing in his weekly blog, Chan said it is unavoidable for Hong Kong – being a small and fully open economy – to be affected by uncertainties in the external environment.
“We will closely monitor the latest economic developments, and do our best to introduce suitable and balanced measures, while taking into consideration our public financial situation,” the minister wrote.
“[We are] fully committed to maintaining Hong Kong’s economic vitality and strengthening people’s confidence in the city’s economic prospect.”
The finance chief added that the SAR delegation worked together to “tell a good Hong Kong story” during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
He said he’s expanded Hong Kong’s “circle of friends” with representatives from other countries and laid the groundwork for further exchanges and collaboration.
Chan also noted that he’s extended invites to people such as leaders of multinational corporations and unicorn companies to visit the SAR.
