Temporary office to deal with demand for ID cards

Immigration officials are to open a temporary office in Kwun Tong from November 1 to handle applications for ID cards.

They said the office is needed to ease pressure on services because of various talent admission schemes, and to deal with 400,000 people who have yet to upgrade to new smart ID cards.

The office will also issue replacement cards for new permanent residents and people reaching the ages of 11 and 18.

The office on Wai Yip Street will be open from 8am to 10pm.
