The Geminid meteor shower peaks this week and is expected to light up the Hong Kong sky.
Catch the amazing spectacle tomorrow night as the Space Museum will live-stream the event.
The live-streaming will be from 9pm to 11pm through the museum’s YouTube channel and “LCSD Plusss” Facebook page.
During the peak at 3am on Friday, it is predicted that the zenithal hourly rate, which is the number of meteors seen per hour can reach 150, the highest in 2023.
Meteors appear to emanate from a point known as the radiant in the night sky. The radiant of the Geminid meteor shower will rise in the northeast at about 7.30pm tomorrow. As the radiant rises higher in the sky, the number of meteors will increase.
Take in as much of the sky with a wide-angle view and avoid bright lights. More than 20 meteors may be observed in an hour during mid-night.
But it all depends heavily on the weather conditions, so watch out for the latest weather updates before the indulgence.
