Deliveroo, St. James’ Settlement ease food insecurity

Customers can make donations when ordering meals on Deliveroo to support the “Smile for Food” campaign which aims to provide around 12,000 hot meals to over 300 families from ethnic minority backgrounds.

The food delivery platform said it is partnering with St James’ Settlement for the campaign aiming to address the issue of food security among vulnerable communities in Hong Kong.

The campaign aims to raise a total of HK$480,000 in the next six months to combat food insufficiency.

Qualified families will receive HK$400 per week in food subsidies for four weeks, totaling HK$1,600 a month, helping them access ten hot meals per week.

Starting yesterday, people placing orders on Deliveroo can make donations either in-app or on Deliveroo’s website, allowing customers to round up their totals or make an additional donation when they check out.
