Hangzhou bronze for HK men’s squash team

The Hong Kong men’s squash team have had to settle for bronze at the Asian Games, crashing out of the semifinals 2-1 at the hands of Pakistan on Friday.

The SAR’s Henry Leung dropped the first match, 3-1, to Noor Zaman, before Alex Lau fended off elimination in a hard-fought match.

Down 2-1, he won the last two games against Asim Muhammad Khan, 11-4 11-2, to win the match 3-2.

However, Pakistan’s Nasir Iqbal smashed his team into the final by beating Edmond Tang, 3-0. They play for gold against either Malaysia or India on Saturday.

Hong Kong had grabbed a silver in the same event at the Jakarta Games five years ago.
