“They are very fond of our scenery, especially in the New Territories and our outlying islands,” he said. “But what we need to do is further develop these areas, for example to have good facilities to accommodate visitors.”
Chow said hikers, and people visiting scenic areas and beaches in the New Territories, didn’t have much in the way of catering facilities; whereas people who went to the beach at Repulse Bay on Hong Kong Island had plenty of options.
The DAB Party also wants to bring back the multiple entry permit for mainlanders as part of a package of measures to boost tourism in Hong Kong. The permit used to allow Shenzhen residents to visit Hong Kong multiple times on a single visa. But it was scrapped in 2015 as the city was overwhelmed by tourists.
