China’s leading memory chip manufacturer Yangtze Memory Technologies Company has filed a lawsuit against US-based Micron Technology, alleging infringement of eight patents it owns.
YMTC said the lawsuit aims to halt Micron’s extensive and unauthorized use of its patented innovations, according to mainland media group Yicai.
In December 2022, the US added YMTC to its entity list for chip export control.
Meanwhile, Chinese emerging artificial intelligence startup 01.AI went on a buying blitz earlier this year to make sure it had enough high-end Nvidia semiconductors before the US imposed tighter export curbs that cut off such chip sales to all Chinese customers.
It bought enough of the chips to last for the next 18 months or so, founder and chief executive Lee Kai-fu said.
In other news, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China’s (1398) US arm was hit by a ransomware attack last week that disrupted trades in the US Treasury market. It was later resolved.
