Wong King-yeung awarded SAR’s first athletics medal

Hong Kong’s Wong King-yeung was awarded a track and field bronze medal in the men’s T13 1500m on Thursday, a day after he finished the race in fourth place.

Wong crossed the line in a time of five minutes 5.83 seconds, behind Jordan’s Nabeel Khaled Ahmad Maqableh, who ran an Asian Para Games record, in first, and Indian runners Sharath Makanahalli Shankarappa and Balwant Singh Rawat.

Rawat was disqualified on Thursday, however, meaning Wong was awarded the bronze.

It was the SAR delegation’s first track and field medal at this year’s Games.
