Mother arrested for allegedly wounding her twin sons

A 53-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of wounding her twin sons at their Wong Tai Sin home.

All three were found with cuts to their abdomens after the twins’ father called the police at around eight in the morning.

The injured trio were taken to hospital.

It’s understood that the twins have intellectual disabilities.

Following the incident, DAB lawmaker Stanley Li said several recent events have highlighted the need to identify and support what he called “hidden carers”.

He called on the government to conduct more outreach visits.

“If we look into the tragedies involving caregivers in the past two to three years, most of them have been hidden carers who have not been followed by or recognised by the government’s Social Welfare Department or social workers from other welfare organisations. These hidden carers endure immense pressure and lack support,” said Li.
