The minister said the move follows the deaths of two workers who were replacing pipes at the Elements Shopping Mall in West Kowloon in an apparent gas poisoning.
“Given that new accidents have happened, we hope to learn the lessons. Of course, we will carefully examine the code of practice to identify potential areas for improvement. We have also heard from the industry regarding the feasibility of using technology, and we will think in that direction,” Sun said.
Two men have been charged with manslaughter in connection with the case.
The incident prompted the government to carry out territory-wide inspections of sealed construction sites.
Sun said inspections have made progress, and officers will issue warnings or improvements if needed.
Separately, the labour chief said a caregiver support hotline launched last month has received some 2,400 calls to date.
He said callers were seeking community service information or counselling services, adding that most issues can be resolved over the phone.
The minister said the hotline serves as a point of contact, and the authorities will make every effort to assist caregivers. People can call the hotline on 182183.
