KMB passengers will know they are taking a bus equipped with solar panels when they see the Trifolium symbol on the bus company’s mobile app.
The symbol made its debut yesterday, appearing next to the estimated time of arrival for solar buses.
It coincides with KMB’s launch of its Green Rewards Program this month, which allows club1933 members to earn an extra membership point when riding solar buses.
Membership points can be exchanged for gifts or eCoins used for bus fares.
Passengers can differentiate solar buses through icons featured on the front and the body of the vehicles.
The bus company said this was to promote green transportation and encourage passengers to ride on solar-powered buses to protect the environment.
KMB and LWB have 1,300 buses powered by solar energy currently operating in the city.
KMB said it would increase the number of solar buses to 2,000 by year’s end and plans to install solar panel systems on all of its approximately 4,000 buses.
